DePaul Men’s a Cappella (DMaC) was started in the Spring of 2003 by Josh Grode as a simple quartet of ex-choir boys looking for an outlet to sing. The group soon grew to a membership of 14-16 members per year. Josh himself was part of the Music School for a short time. However today, only a few of the illustrious DMaC-ers are part of the DePaul School of Music. As the bad boys of a cappella, we like it that way.

DMaC’s eclectic repertoire includes hits such as “Two Weeks” by Grizzly Bear, “Everybody Knows” by John Legend, and an ever-changing rendition of “Jesus Walks” by Kanye West. Most of our songs are arranged within the group by our current musical director, Charles Haines.

The group is always busy spreading the DMaC love whether it’s at an a cappella festival at another school, a big venue such as the Chicago Heart Walk, or a smaller one such as the Alpha Sigma Alpha Bid Day. Every Valentine’s Day, DMaC is also known to bring young lovers a rose and a song with their infamous “A cappella-Grams.”

We’ve had members go on to become a studio engineer, a dentist, a high-school music teacher, and even a Jesuit volunteer in Nicaragua. However far they may fly, they will always hold DMaC Love near to their hearts.
